Memories, Migration and Belonging
Have you been living in Zurich for a short or long time and would you like to share your experiences with other women? Are you curious about how we can bring sounds from other corners of the world to Zurich?
In this creative workshop, we will reflect on the connection between sounds, memories, migration and belonging, and embark on a search for our lost acoustic landscapes. Using our own recordings and research in soundscape databases, we will create a collective audio collage with plenty of room for storytelling.
You will learn how to make and edit simple audio recordings. In a second step, we will create short audio clips with our material. By participating in the workshops, you can expand your network of contacts and contribute to the collective generation of knowledge.
We will meet four times from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Punto de Encuentro, Josefstrasse 102, 8005 Zurich:
5 March – 12 March – 19 March – 26 March
We speak German and can also use English, Spanish, Italian, French or other languages, as long as someone can translate for the group.
You will need a smartphone with a simple app for audio recording, such as Voice Memos for iPhone or Voice Recorder for Android.
Participation is free of charge, and coffee, tea, drinks and snacks will be provided. There is space for 6 women between the ages of 30 and 90.

The project is part of my research work at the University of Basel on the feelings of belonging or non-belonging among women with migration experiences in Zurich. The discussions in the workshops will remain confidential. I will only use anonymised material for the research results.
